About Us

Our Mission

At Bricks for Good, our mission is to bring fun, happiness, and hope to all children through the power of LEGO® play. We’re dedicated to providing experiences that foster imagination, learning, and social connection—enabling children to thrive and reach their full potential.

We firmly believe that every child deserves a childhood filled with laughter, creativity, and the opportunity to dream. Unfortunately, many children face challenging circumstances beyond their control that deprive them of this basic right. That’s why we’ve made it our purpose to bridge this gap and make a positive impact in their lives.

Our charity is driven by compassion, empathy, and a deep understanding of the transformative power of LEGO play. We strive to create an inclusive and equitable world where all children—regardless of their background or circumstances—have equal access to the joys and benefits of LEGO bricks.

Through generous monetary and LEGO set donations from individuals, businesses, and community partners, we’re able to provide children with resources that ignite their imagination, develop essential skills, and build meaningful relationships. We work closely within our local communities, schools, libraries, and other nonprofit organizations to identify and reach those children who are most in need.

Bricks for Good operates with transparency, accountability, and integrity. We ensure that every LEGO set donation reaches the hands of a deserving child, and we continuously seek opportunities to expand our reach and impact. We rely on the dedication and support of volunteers, donors, and advocates who share our vision of creating a brighter future for all children.

Together, let’s build a world where every child experiences the joys of LEGO, where their dreams are nurtured, and where their potential knows no boundaries. Join us in our mission to bring smiles, laughter, and happiness to the lives of children and make a lasting difference in their journey toward a better tomorrow… one brick at a time.

In this future, no child will be deprived of the joys and benefits that LEGO provides. We see a world where children from all walks of life, regardless of their socio-economic background, will have equal opportunities to develop essential life skills, build social connections, and discover their unique talents through play.

Through our relentless dedication and unwavering commitment, we strive to create lasting positive change for children. We envision a future where our impact extends far and wide, reaching children in every corner of our local community and beyond, leaving no child behind.

We aim to be at the forefront of change, leveraging innovation, collaboration, and community engagement to transform the lives of all children through LEGO. By working hand-in-hand with like-minded individuals, organizations, and corporations, we will build a powerful network of support that amplifies our mission and accelerates our progress.

In our vision, LEGO bricks are not just plastic playthings; they are catalysts for growth, empowerment, and social transformation. We strive to inspire a collective sense of responsibility, encouraging society to recognize the profound impact that LEGO can have on a child’s development and well-being. By raising awareness and advocating for the importance of LEGO play, we will foster a world where every child’s potential is nurtured and celebrated.

Together, we can create a future where the barriers of inequality crumble, and children are empowered to dream big, achieve their goals, and become change-makers in their own right. Let us unite in our vision of a world where every child’s laughter is heard, every imagination is ignited, and every heart is filled with hope.

Lee Barber is the founder and chairman of the board of directors at Bricks for Good. As a lifelong fan of LEGO, Lee recognized the incredible potential of using colorful plastic bricks as a tool for education, empowerment, and social change. With this idea in mind, he carefully assembled a team of individuals who share his passion and belief in the power of play. Together, they work tirelessly to design and implement programs that foster creativity, encourage teamwork, promote education, and inspire innovation.

During his childhood, Lee knows first-hand the damaging effects of being underprivileged, having been exposed to a variety of dysfunction, abuse, poverty, neglect, and malnourishment. While his younger years were difficult, LEGO play was always a safe space, allowing him the opportunity to still thrive in adolescence despite his challenging circumstances. Inspired by his own transformative experiences later in life, he became determined to share the magic of LEGO building with others, especially those who might not have access to such resources.

Lee graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor’s degree in humanities, during which he studied topics and time periods from the perspective of multiple disciplines and cultures. The capstone of his studies were defined by an independent investigation of the human condition and technology—supplemented by a partial study abroad in Rome, Italy—cultivating critical thinking and analysis in an increasingly diverse and technical world. Beyond his undergraduate study, Lee also has a diploma from the New York Code and Design Academy where he studied how to build full-stack, dynamic, and responsive web applications.

In addition to Bricks for Good, Lee is a member of the Bridge Men’s Society, a community of like-minded intentional men who embrace healthy masculinity by encouraging each other to reach new heights both professionally and personally. Further, Lee is a founding member of THE WELL, a faith-based fellowship group that passionately pursues and examines the New Testament gospel of Jesus Christ. Lee also helps “rip people off the couch” as a brand ambassador for Spartan Race and serves as the president of East Shore Technology, LLC, a Harrisburg-based IT consulting company.

Most recently, Lee has been involved with the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, a charitable organization that provides mortgage-free homes to military veterans. Previously, Lee has made integral contributions to the community as a resident attendant at the Interfaith Shelter for Homeless Families, counselor for at-risk youth on juvenile probation at Diakon Wilderness Center, brother with Kappa Sigma Fraternity (Pi-Lambda), volunteer with WXPN 88.5 FM, and teaching assistant at the Free Library of Philadelphia.

Beyond LEGO, some of Lee’s other interests include functional fitness, boxing, hiking, camping, stand-up comedy, playing piano, photography, firearms, motorcycles, ham radio, computers, electronics, robotics, and retro video games.
