Bricks for Good – Volunteer Policy

  1. Purpose

The purpose of this Volunteer Policy is to establish guidelines and expectations for volunteers at Bricks for Good. Volunteers play a vital role in achieving our mission, and this policy outlines the principles and standards that govern their involvement.

  1. Definitions

2.1. Volunteer: An individual who freely and willingly donates their time, skills, and expertise to support the activities and objectives of Bricks for Good, without financial compensation.

2.2. Volunteer Coordinator: The designated staff member responsible for recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers.

  1. Eligibility

3.1. Age: Volunteers must meet the minimum age requirement established by Bricks for Good to participate in specific volunteer roles.

3.2. Background Checks: Due to the nature of the volunteer role and the populations we serve, all volunteers are required to undergo background checks, including criminal history checks and child abuse clearances.

  1. Volunteer Recruitment

4.1. Volunteer Opportunities: Bricks for Good will provide information about available volunteer opportunities, including descriptions, time commitments, and required skills.

4.2. Recruitment Process: Prospective volunteers must complete an application and, if applicable, undergo an interview with the Volunteer Coordinator.

4.3. Selection: Bricks for Good reserves the right to select volunteers based on the organization’s needs, qualifications, and availability.

  1. Volunteer Orientation and Training

5.1. Orientation: All volunteers will receive an orientation that includes information about Brick for Good’s mission, policies, safety procedures, and expectations.

5.2. Training: Volunteers will receive training specific to their roles, including any necessary technical or job-related training.

  1. Code of Conduct

6.1. Professionalism: Volunteers are expected to act professionally, treating staff, clients, and fellow volunteers with respect and courtesy.

6.2. Confidentiality: Volunteers must maintain strict confidentiality regarding any sensitive information they may come across during their service.

6.3. Punctuality: Volunteers are expected to arrive on time for scheduled shifts and fulfill their agreed-upon commitments.

6.4. Communication: Volunteers are encouraged to communicate regularly with the Volunteer Coordinator, providing updates on availability, concerns, or feedback.

  1. Safety

7.1. Safety Procedures: Volunteers must adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines established by Bricks for Good.

7.2. Reporting Incidents: Volunteers must report any accidents, injuries, or safety concerns immediately to the Volunteer Coordinator.

7.3. Mandated Reporting: All Volunteers are mandated reporters with the state of Pennsylvania. Any suspected child abuse must be reported to the Volunteer Coordinator who will guide you in submitting a report to the PA Department of Human Services.

  1. Termination of Volunteer Service

8.1. Bricks for Good reserves the right to terminate a volunteer’s service at any time for any reason, with or without cause.

  1. Benefits

9.1. Recognition: Bricks for Good will recognize and appreciate the contributions of volunteers through various means, such as certificates, letters of appreciation, or awards.

9.2. References: Upon request, Bricks for Good may provide volunteers with letters of reference or recommendations to acknowledge their service.

  1. Amendments

This Volunteer Policy may be amended or updated by Bricks for Good at any time. Volunteers will be notified of any changes to this policy.

By volunteering at Bricks for Good, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to abide by the terms and conditions outlined in this Volunteer Policy.

Please return a signed copy of this policy to the Volunteer Coordinator upon acceptance as a volunteer at Bricks for Good.
