Meet our first Brickstar, ANTHONY!

Anthony is a 5th grader at Donegal Intermediate School in Marietta, PA. Despite being visually impaired in one eye, he has a keen sense of detail and loves building LEGO bricks! We were curious to learn more about him so we sat down together and had a delightful conversation.

Check out his responses to some of our questions below!

1. What are some of your favorite LEGO themes?

DC, Harry Potter, Marvel, Minecraft, Spider-Man, Super Mario, Batman, City, Minions, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Speed Champions.

2. How long have you been playing with LEGO?

Ever since playing with DUPLO as a toddler.

3. What do you enjoy the most about playing with LEGO sets?

They’re FUN!

4. Can you tell us about your favorite LEGO creation and why you like it?

I built a car wash and a pizzeria out of random pieces from my collection.

5. How do LEGO sets make you feel?

Happy! They make my mind wander…

6. Can you share a fun or interesting story about playing with LEGO sets?

One time I used an illegal technique by accident to make a pillar support beam and it was weird because it actually stood!

(An “illegal technique” in the LEGO community is when you make a brick or piece stick to another without using the traditional interlocking studs method.)

7. Do you like building alone or with friends/family? Why?

I like building alone ever since my cousin broke my car wash. That wasn’t nice.

8. How do LEGO sets make a difference in your life?

When I’m bored I just start to build! Haha!

9. If you could create your own LEGO set, what would it be like?

Withered Freddy! I would make a series based on all of the characters from the game Five Nights at Freddy’s.

10. How do you feel when you successfully complete a challenging LEGO build?

Happy!

11. Are there any skills you think you’ve developed by building with LEGO?

Imagination… and using my hands to build small parts.

12. What advice would you give to other kids who are new to building LEGO sets?

If it gets challenging for you, just keep persevering!

13. Do you like to imagine stories or adventures with your LEGO creations? If so, can you share one with us?

Yeah, I have a big town in my closet!

14. How do you involve your friends or family in your LEGO-building activities?

I used to build with some of my friends but now I mostly build alone.

15. What do you think about the idea of sharing LEGO sets with other kids who may not have them?

I feel like that would be nice because I never really see anyone else who does LEGO except this one other kid at school.

16. What do you think is the most exciting part of receiving a new LEGO set?

The challenge of getting it put together.

17. How do you decide what to build when you have a variety of LEGO pieces in front of you?

I just start building and see what happens.
